PRAYING MANTIS

I just had these photos sent to me by my mother-in-law Celia.  She found this Praying Mantis on the driveway just now and said its eyes followed her every movement, and when she went back a short time later it had already gone.  Aren't they great photos?  She said I could put them on my blog to share with you all.  Thanks Celia!

  3. Amazing creature! We don't get them in the UK of course, but my friend sent me a picture of one sat on her bicycle handlebars in Spain. Their eyes follow you everywhere!

  5. Love these! Great shots, how nice of her to let your share them with us. It looks to be good-sized, too. We found a dead one on our window screen this morning and wondered what happened to it.

  9. Great shots of that monster. They are quite aggressive you know. Not with humans but with other creatures. I don't know if it's true or not but someone told me the kill hummingbirds.

  11. Awesome photos. these guys are all about camouflage. Somehow this guy wasn't with the program when he sat out on the driveway.

  12. Never seen like this, it is a very strange looking and huge-sized grasshopper. I do not know what to say, it is really quite ugly and dreadful looking. I do not like any bugs, not even little ones, so fortunately we don't have such big grasshopper here in Finland.
But the photos are really lovely and beautiful.

  13. The photographs are fabulous. The PM is bigger than I thought and quite cute, if that word can be used to describe an insect... smiles.

  19. Have had several of them on my patio this summer. They are so ugly and aggressive. It is so strange how their tail looks like a leaf and they seem to have "rose thorns" on the back of their front legs.
