GREAT BLUE HERON AT MEADOWLARK GARDENS

This is the first time we have seen a Great Blue Heron on the walk to what we call our secret garden.  I'm sure he has been there before but we felt we were very lucky to be there at the same time.

So focused!

And I kept snapping away.

Eventually I think he got tired of me, even though I wasn't that close.....

as he took off....

and relocated....

to the other side of the pond.

It was time to leave him in peace.

I am sharing with the following memes, with my thanks to our hosts.

I wonder why that heron was alone. Didn't it have a mate?

Isn't he just magnificent? i love his curly neck and feathers and that wing span is amazing. there is one that fishes in a pond only a few blocks from her, in a place we can't stop, but we see him almost every day FOCUSED on the water, waiting for a fish.

Breathtaking. We don't have Blue Herons in our area. Seeing these gorgeous pictures was a treat.

They are the epitome of patience!! And you got wonderful pictures -- I'm particularly envious of the beautiful flight shots.

Great shots! He posed for a good while, didn't he? I imagine he had to really focus to see under all that growth in the water.

Not a species we get over here, but I love all the Herons and Egrets; such patience and grace.

Wonderful shots of the Blue Heron!

This guy has probably watched you many times but you didn't notice him. They stand so still and blend in that they're hard to see.

I love photographing herons, but I've never been able to get a good shot when they suddenly decided to leave.

Nice shots. Great Blues always seem a little wary. They are so beautiful when they fly. I love the shot with the reflection as it was flying close to the water.

Fabulous!!! First love the name of the gardens area. And the patience of those herons continue to astound me. You have some wonderful memories captured 'on film' here today.

Gorgeous! The Great Blue is one of my favorite birds. Amazing, aren't they?! I guess he thought you were interrupting his fishing! Happy Monday!

I just love these birds and their crouching stance with the curved neck is so cool to see as they wait.

Great shots Denise, I've never been able to capture the one that raids our backyard pond. As soon as I open the screen door it takes off over the roof tops. Probably knows it's fishing where it shouldn't. :-)
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

These are wonderful shots of this shy bird. I love their eyes and I respect that bill...so fast... yet when we rescued that one, he weighed nothing... Michelle
