A VERY TALL STONE MAN.....

that reminds me of those found on Easter Island, except this one is wearing a crown of some sort. I found him standing outside the Kon Tiki Museum in Oslo, Norway last June.  It is a very tall statue towering over everyone.  There was a beautiful sky above him.

I am in a quote kind of mood lately.  I love my quotes.  Here's five for you.

1) "One of the pleasantest things is going on a journey."
~Author Unknown~

2)  "Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is a home."

~Matsuo Basho~

3) "A journey is a person in itself, no two are alike.  And all plans, safeguards, policing and coercion are fruitless.  We find that after years of struggle we do not take a trip, a trip takes us."

~John Steinbeck~

4)  "A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving."

~Loa Tzu~

5) "Never go on trips with anyone you do not love."

~Ernest Hemmingway~

  2. Denise, a very tall stone man, indeed. Love your quotes on traveling. I could tell you a story about going on a trip with people you don't necessarily love!

  5. You just like picking quotes that make us think!

  6. Lovely statue but it looks a bit stuck-up from this perspective. :) I think a lot fewer people would be traveling if they waited to do it with someone they loved. :)

  15. Nice shot. I have an idea that some of the ones on the Easter Islands had 'hats' like that originally. Could be wrong mind you!

  16. Yep, I couldn't agree more with #5. Both life and in traveling per se, it just doesn't make sense to journey with the people you don't like. You're just spoiling your time.

    Have a great week-end!

  20. Hemingway's quote is interesting. Immediately, I am wondering if he ever loved anyone.

  21. number 2 fits me because i am happiest when i am home. number and this one "A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving is my dad and my hubby.
both are point a to point b and how can we get there the fastest. when we used to drive the 400 miles to Savannah, i could hardly get Bob to stop and let me potty, he sets himself the goal of getting there Fast.
and even trips with someone you love can be hard..

  22. In all senses he looks like a member of Sly and the Family Stone.

He's a very impressive fellow, gazing impenetrably out over us plebs as we scuttle about our pointless lives, oblivious of his rich internal life looking after the Earth's place in the Universe

All that while looking like something out of a particularly granite-y episode of "Happy Days"

  25. Hi Denise,
That is a ginormous and interesting statue. The crown reminds me of a Chia Pet.
The skies are gorgeous and blue as can be. Nice find!
    Have a Great Weekend!
    Peace :)
