A STRANGE PLACE TO TAKE A REST.....

would be right next to the tail of an alligator, don't you think?

These are from a trip to Florida January 2014.  We visited the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park.  There were two ways to get to it from the main entrance, a boat or a tram ride.  We took the boat and this is a sight that we were greeted with not five minutes into the ride.  Two turtles sharing a log with an alligator.

I am linking with Misty at Camera Critters, and Eileen at Saturday's Critters. Thank you Ladies for hosting.

I had to laugh at last shot as one flip of the Alligator's tail and they are off that log! Have a wonderful weekend.

Good Morning, Denise. What a sight to see! I would think it would be better for the turtles to be on the gators tail than in the front by its mouth.. Great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post! Have a happy weekend!

OH My....now that's not something you see every day! Awesome captures!

Interesting log fellows, maybe it was the only submerged log available for sunning?

Turtles are very brave, me thinks. Or perhaps, turtle is not the alligator's meal of choice. Perhaps the shell is too crunchy. ;)

Well you got me there, never likely to see those out running! Having said that there are feral terrapin found in some UK ponds where they've been dumped by pet owners after they got too big.

That is strange!

Maybe they saw the gator eating a heron yesterday and know he won't be hungry for a couple weeks.

oh, that's adorable!!

i would die from joy if i saw this sight. i would think it would be dangerous for the turtles but i guess not. learn something new every day.

Mr. Alligator must have gotten tired of the weight of turtle on his tail, but not enough to give up perch in the sun. First come, first bask in warmth!

This would be rather startling to see five minutes into the trip.

Obviously Mr. Gator does not eat them. Fun to see.

The turtles are braver than I would be. Perhaps they knew the alligator had already eaten lunch.

Wonderful shots of those fearless turtles! I guess alligators don't eat them?

Evidently Alligators don't like Turtle for lunch!

Funny, but when he gets bigger watch out. Turtles make a nice snack.

Perhaps they has seen that alligator eating breakfast earlier...

Well, this is totally amazing! What do you make of it? Maybe they know the alligator just had a big meal? How strange!!

Great pics!

I guess the sunny part of a log is valuable real estate to swamp reptiles...worth risking a tail slap for!

I was thinking of the flick of that tail and those two turtles would be flying. They looked comfortable! Great shots!

These are wonderful captures that seem to prove that 'gators don't care for meat pies with crispy crusts....

Thanks for this amazing set of photos!

Have a great week.

Either the turtles are very brave or not too bright! :-) Or maybe the alligators don't like to deal with the shells so they don't attack them.

Nature and its inhabitants never fail to amaze me. Fabulous set of photographs, Denise.

What a brave turtles! That's not a place I would like to nap.

Great catch Denise! Yep it wouldn't be my choice either. We've seen birds practically sitting on a gator's head though. Hopefully they and the turtles know that the 'monster' is already full.

Maybe I would feel safe next to an alligator if I had body armor on me all the time.
