TODAY'S FLOWERS #309

Driving through France we saw red poppies everywhere.  I couldn't help but reflect on their symbolism.  In this field full of wheat there were poppies on the edge of the road.  As there was no one behind us this time, we stopped just so that we could take a look at these beautiful poppies.  Before we had seen whole fields full of them.  An incredible sight but no opportunity to stop safely because of traffic.  We were content with these.  They were growing in the middle of the bright yellow mustard seed flower, a pretty combination of color.

I understand the poppies only grow where the earth has been disturbed. A wonderful fower. We used to buy the paper version and wear it on Armistice Day.

They are beautiful flowers, and so poignant given the associations we have with them.

What a beautiful combinations of colors, especially with wild flowers. Nature has an amazing pallet. Thanks for sharing.

There is nothing quite so symbolic and beautiful as a poppy, especially this year.

So gorgeous, Denise! It's such a shame that so many great photo opportunities get missed because there's no place to pull off the road. I would have come home with three times as many pictures from our trip if I could have asked my hubby to turn around and go back, and had known there would be a place for him to pull off the road! :-) I'd say "Look at the so-and-so" and it would be gone! :-)
