Alligators and a Toddler are introduced......really?

Having visited the Everglades not long ago and having had a discussion about how close people, including children got to the alligators - and no not this close - I was astonished by this photo.  I know nothing about it other than it was taken in Los Angeles in 1920.  Husband Gregg sent it to me after finding it online here where you can see this photo, along with others at an alligator farm, also from the same time frame.

The site is called Retronaut, home page found here.   It is a site where you can find lots and lots of old photos.

That goes past the line of good common sense. I have no words.

As someone who works in a children's home I'd not like to write the Risk Assessment for that one.

I won't come near any of them. The alligators will lap me up . . . and babies always have this play idea of hitting us without meaning to.

The photo reminds me of Steve Irwin and his daughter..The gators are scary to me, I would never get close. Have a happy day!

This looks very frightening - not with my child, nor would I like to watch....

I can't believe it.... at first I thought the gators weren't real!

Some how I suspect this was staged in some manner, maybe even in the darkroom.

Wow. Cannot believe someone would let a child near so many dangerous reptiles. I wouldn't even let my dog get close. WTH?

EEEEEEEEEEK! Dear Lord. I hope that child survived parents stupidity.

Thats just crazy! They move so fast. The gators seem very attentive, that's for sure.

That is amazing!
Kids seemed much safer, despite a lack of safety rules back in the old days.
But this is rather strange!!!!

What a great shot though. These days it would have been Photo-Shopped!

That is just so CRAZY. They eat small dogs, sure they could have easily devoured that little one.

Flabbergasted that a parent could do that.
