SKYWATCH FRIDAY - Season 7, Episode 3 - Williamsburg - Part 2

The skies in Williamsburg were ambivalent.  On one side it was blue and yet if you looked in a different direction, you could see the dark clouds rolling in.

Not long after we noticed the dark clouds, we had one of those summer, monsoon-like downpours.  After a lovely walk, we were on our way back to the car when it started raining.  We sought shelter under a covered porch, along with several other people.  They were all in good spirits and didn't seem to mind that to a person they were incredibly wet.  A few had umbrellas but as heavy as the rain came down, the brollies offered little protection.

Everyone watched as the huge raindrops forcefully bounced off everything in sight.  When it got less fierce Gregg and I decided to make our way back to the car, which was parked a hundred yards at the other end of the footpath.  We were already wet and the walk in the rain, after feeling clammy and hot due to the humidity, was very refreshing and a welcome relief.

(It wasn't too long after this photo that it started to rain but getting caught out in such a deluge only added to what turned out to be one of our favorite days.)

My thanks to the SkyWatch Team for hosting this wonderful meme.

  9. Great weather shots! We got wet, while riding the motorcycle the other day. It was a hot, humid day. The rain felt refreshing. We were dry too by the time we reached our destination.

  11. I love unexpected rain like that....especially when it doesn't last long.

I was hoping your hubby might have been in Vietnam at the same time as my hubby....he has always wondered what happened to the guys that he served with....and I was hoping that there might have been a sliver of a chance...aw, well...
