NATURE NOTES - Celia's Raccoons

I call these Celia's Raccoons.  When we were visiting over the 4th of July, one night while talking away in the sun room on the back of the house, the security lights came on outside and there they were.  One actually stood on its hind legs and stared at me as if to say, "Your new, who are you?"

I am linking with Michelle's Nature Notes this week.  Thank you for hosting Michelle, I enjoy this lovely meme very much.

  1. Oh excellent shots of these cute night critters! We have some rambling around our yard at night, but I haven't been able to photograph them.

  2. I have racoons too (in middle Germany, in Harz)
They are lovely and they are a trouble, makes to collapse my old house. They are to many in our little town - ufff!

  3. They certainly are cute, but they can cause a lot of damage, too! Not to mention that cute is not synonymous with tame.

  5. Fantastic shots ! Racoons don't show up here till the wee hours of the night when Miggs is fast asleep as she keeps everything at bay ! Thanks for sharing . Keeping cool in the AC today as it is very humid here ! Have a good day !

  6. I love these cute little creatures, except they tend to get into trouble a lot !
Last week we had one sitting on the barbecue grill, a teenager, so I'm sure his family was not far behind :)

  8. We don't have them here Denise, so they are especially cute to me! Are they regarded as a pest? and if so why is that, what do they do? Ah, I shall google it and find out!
    Have a wonderful week.

  9. They look very well behaved...no bandanas or flick knives,as racoons usually wear!

  10. Ugh... As cute as they are, I hate having them on our deck. Hope Celia doesn't feed them. We don't purposely feed them --but they like to search around for bird seed which I may not have swept up... I try to get rid of everything before dark --but they still come back...Those things carry all kinds of diseases.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  12. They're so darn sweet -- I know some people think they're pests, but I love them. Have you seen them wash their food? I love when they do that.

  14. We used to have lots of raccoons on our back porch, but since our cat dies and we aren't feeding any animals outside, I haven't seen a raccoon for a while.

  15. How cool! I used to have a co-worker who had one as a pet. It rode around on his shoulder.

  18. They are cute, but the ones that I have like to eat my cat's food. So I try to feed MY cats early so there will be no food for my night visitors. And they do seem to look at you and try to communicate!♥♫
