A few birds in my back yard....

I was able to take a photo of this female Downy Woodpecker the other day.....

along with a juvenile American Robin.

A male House Finch came along later and landed on our deck.....

and then a Goldfinch turned up on the sock feeder.  For those who aren't familiar with sock feeders, these are very popular in this area.  They are sold full of thistle seed and the holes in the sock are large enough for a beak to poke in and pull out the thistles, yet small enough to stop the thistles from falling out of the sock.  The Gold Finches love them, as do the House Finches.

I will be linking with Anni's Bird D'Pot, Stewart's Wild Bird Wednesday and Michelle's Nature Notes

Beautiful photos. The sock feeder is an excellent idea - haven't seen anything like it in UK yet.

How special !
I've never seen a juvenile Robin before now, or maybe I have, but didn't recognise that it was a Robin !
Such a colorful variety of birds coming to visit.

Beautiful photos of your bird friends, Denise. We have a sock feeder, too. The finches do seem to love the seed.

You have a colorful assortment of feathered visitors, Denise. We rarely get a woodpecker at the feeders. I have used the thistle sock feeders too.

Those sock feeders are great for the smaller birds -- I think they kind of stop the birdy thieves (like starlings and grackles) too! Love your birds.
