Each Autumn my father would go off to a secret location and bring back armloads of these berries to put in vases in the house. They were a pest as they aged, flinging the berries to the floor with gay abandon, but I cannot see them now without thinking of him.

Red berries and Christmas go hand in hand.

All things to their season, when summer flowers fade, colourful berries take over to draw the eye and feed the birds.A lovely burst of berries indeed.

The pictures are brilliant, I love to see the cotoneaster berries.... that is before the birds eat the lot. My garden is now devoid of cheery red berries.

Nice looking holly. Haven't been around in some time, spend most of my time on Facebook. Hope you, hubby, son and his wife are all doing fine. In case I don't get back for a while again, have a very Merry Christmas.

I always think about the birds when I see an abundance of berries. This year there have been a profusion and we have been told it will be a hard winter. Nevertheless it's a great seasonal sight to behold.
