  3. Each Autumn my father would go off to a secret location and bring back armloads of these berries to put in vases in the house. They were a pest as they aged, flinging the berries to the floor with gay abandon, but I cannot see them now without thinking of him.

    I so enjoyed your Mt Vernon visit, the info on the hoe cake, and the Christmas tree is spectacular ..love those ornaments!!
    Just love the red berries today..I wish I had a few to put in my Christmas arrangements! : }!!

  12. The pictures are brilliant, I love to see the cotoneaster berries.... that is before the birds eat the lot. My garden is now devoid of cheery red berries.

  21. I always think about the birds when I see an abundance of berries. This year there have been a profusion and we have been told it will be a hard winter. Nevertheless it's a great seasonal sight to behold.
