Camera Critters and Bird D'Pot

I am posting my Camera Critters entry a little early.  I am also connecting with Bird D'Pot.  The company we were thinking we might get didn't happen, but at least I am ahead of the game as far as the housework is concerned, which is always a good thing.

I love it when the Blue Jays come on the deck to eat the peanuts I throw out. You can hear the first one up in the tree calling to its family, and the next thing you know there are several flying down for a meal.  They don't like you getting too close.  I try to stay back because as soon as they see me they take off.

Thank you Misty for hosting Camera Critters.  Another favorite meme, I always look forward to it each Saturday.

  2. I really like the jays... we have one who comes to pinch nuts from the squirrel but he isn't as pretty as the blue jay. Hope you are well, Denise.

  5. Denise, great shots of the bluejays. I love to see them and they seem kind of camera shy around here too. Have a great weekend!

  12. Hi Denise, very colorful birds on your back deck. We have several that visit our feeders but tend to be seed hogs. Glad to read in your earlier post that your storm damage was minimal as was ours on the VA eastern shore. sadly that was not the case with family and friends in NJ who remain without power nearly 36 hours afterwards. But Everyine is safe and we are thankful.

  14. I'm about ready to post my CC too..

You have prettier jays than we do...we just have the scrub jays, a pretty color blue, but no interesting feather patterns.

  15. What great captures these are! I love them! Here we have stellar jays and gray jays. Gray jays or camp robbers eat out of our hands! Amazing birds!

  21. Blue Jays like peanuts.... I will have to try those.
I love watching them at my feeders, but as you said, they do not let you get too close.
You captured them very well. I especially like the shot with the one that seems to be cocking his head to look at you, cute!

  26. Oh my god... they are beautyful!

We don't have them here in Holland... i wish we had!

One distant relative of the Blue Jay is seen around our parts tho, the Eurasian Jay.
They are pretty birds too but not all that colorfull.
