TODAY'S FLOWERS # 163

We are in Virginia Beach attending my father-in-law's annual shipmates reunion. We are also with our second 'family', all the people we have grown to love and respect who aren't actually family in the strictest sense of the word, but in every other way. This is how I met Rose whose husband (Royal Navy) had contact with my father-in-law's ship during WWII. She had a lot of memorabilia she thought we would all be interested in, came across the ship's website and wrote to ask if she could attend last year's reunion where she brought everything her husband had saved. She was a big hit, everyone loved her and she enjoyed herself so much she came again this year. She knows that she is part of our family now.

There are many different varieties of Lantana and I found this pretty one at the hotel we are staying in at the moment.

The red blooming flower I think is Celosia?

TODAY’S FLOWER’S was created by our good friend Luiz Santilli Jr.

  6. Very pretty indeed. Though some lantana is a noxious weed in parts of Oz. I think you are right and the red plume is a celosia. I am really happy that Rose feels so welcome. And I think the family you adopt are often at least as important as those with ties of kinship.

  22. Lovely flowers as always!
Thank you for helping me with TF and I completely forgotten that I am the featured guest this week! Haha!

Rose is special. I also grew up calling a lot of people Tito (Uncle) and Tita (Aunt) and realized later that they are never really 'blood kins' but they are just as special!

The storms have left and we are very safe.
