Sakura Fubuki - Cherry Blossom Blizzard

Flower petals dancing,
I cannot feel cold under this tree,
With cherry blossoms falling
Like snow.

~Kinotsura no Yuki~

When snow blossoms fall the Japanese phrase for this is "Sakura Fubuki", which translates as "Cherry Blossom Blizzard".

When we were at the end of our walk at the gardens last Sunday, we came across thousands of petals that had already fallen to the ground, just like snow. I wish I had been there to see them fall, how wonderful it would have been to experience "Sakura Fubuki".

  1. Yes, when the blossoms fall to the ground, they remind me of Hawaiian Shower Trees, which do the same. Hence the name.

  2. Japanese are wise but not lucky!
I wish things were different with the radiation...I feel so sorry for them! All countries should help them and not just caring about wars and money!

  3. Mine haven't fallen yet but when they do I never see them actually fall ... all I see is when they're lying on the ground. Still pretty though.

  5. My mother taught me that phrase a couple of years ago when we were in Vancouver during the cherry blossom season. The petals were falling all around us. It was such an incredible feeling.

  7. I like the contrast between the pink blossom carpet and the other flowers. Nature is a great artist:-)

You have created a lovely spot for you readers to visit. I'll definitely be back. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
