Red Ear Slider

This is a Red Ear Slider. We found him at Meadowlark Gardens on our walk around the lake. We saw a total of three turtles that day. The only time I see turtles sunning themselves is during the hot weather and it wasn't that hot this day, so I was a bit surprised to come across them.

You can find out more about him if you click right here.

  4. Great capture. They always look so worried, like they have the world on their shoulders.

  5. They have a keen eyesight so others may have seen you first and slid into the water. Nice photos Denise.

  6. Very attractive markings! It's a shame they've been introduced where they don't naturally occur - still, the fish and herons and alligators appreciate them;-)

  11. I thought I realized that face. I had them as pets as a child (before they were banished). Once we left the little dish with him and the fake palm tree out in Spring and it came a late freeze. Dang...we thought he was dead...but he thawed-out and was good to go. Thanks for the memories.:)
