Walney Pond, I have missed you......

It was a lovely day on Sunday and for the first time this year we made our way over to Walney Pond. The water level was the highest we had ever seen it. The paths in parts were soggy and as we didn't have our old shoes on, we felt it prudent not to take the path through the wood, and contented ourselves with viewing the activity on the pond.

It was relatively quiet except for three Canada Geese. They were a welcome sight as last year we saw no geese or ducks on the pond.

They were making good use of a floating log, not really taking any notice of us.

No hissing or any sign of disgruntlement as he walked by.

I spotted my first tiny wildflower in amongst the dead leaves.....

and signs of the coming of Spring. On the left the old leaves still hanging on, and on the right new leaves starting to bud.

More warmer weather ahead this week. It should be getting into the 70's by the end of it.

  6. The geese look chubby and you like the buds are bursting outside for spring. Hope it keeps warm for you.

  7. I love the first signs of spring. We don't get them that much here in the desert but my favorite season when I lived in Utah/Idaho was early spring. It was life giving.
