Nature Notes

I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment,

while I was hoeing in a village garden,

and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance

that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.

Henry David Thoreau
1817 - 1862

Thoreau was an amazing person and I bet the sparrow knew it! I wonder what I would feel like if a sparrow landed on MY shoulder.

Lovely posy, Denise.

Wondeful captures of the sparrow. Love the one where it is digging its feathers.

I liked the photos they are very nice. I like to watch birds any way. One winter, years ago, I held up some sunflower seed in my hand and a Chickadee landed on my hand and took a seed, he was so light, hardly felt him at all.
