SKYWATCH FRIDAY, SEASON 4, EPISODE 49

As sometimes happens I took no sky photos this week and so had to resort to going into my vacation folders. These are ones from Hawaii, December 2008 when we visited USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor. You can find out all about its history if you click here.

Thank you Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy, Louise and Sylvia for hosting SkyWatch Friday.

Stunning perspectives of the ships! And the bright sky highlights their detail beautifully!

Dramatic photos there, love the position of the guns and the dark brooding feel of the ship.
Cheers.

Very very cool with a personal connection. My brother was on the crew of the Missouri when it was refitted and recomissioned in the 1980's. I attended the recommissioning ceremony in San Francisco. We couldn't tour the inside of the ship but we got to walk around on deck. Brother Bob was on it for about two years.

I did a blog post about the Missouri a while back. Would you believe I felt seasick even though the ship barely moved an inch.

I want to get a bumper sticker that says, "My other car is the U.S.S. Missouri."

This brought back some memories Denise. We had a tour around California in 2001 followed by a week in Hawaii and visited Pearl Harbor whilst we were there. Great photos and lovely skies over the Harbor. A x

Great guns fired a wonderful sky.

Nice Skywatch photo. MISSOURI was in drydock when I visited Pearl harbor, so I have yet to stand on the deck of an IOWA class battleship. It's fun to see someone else's photos of her.
