I scanned some old photos....

I started scanning old photos a while ago and stopped midway for a couple of months. Last night I picked up another old album and it jump-started my project.

This is my son and I back in July 1980. At the time we were living in San Diego and Gregg was away at sea. While our husbands were gone we bonded closely with other wives whose husbands were on the same ship and often went over to each others houses, sometimes in groups or as on this occasion individually. One lady adored Brad as did her 14 year old daughter who often babysat. In fact, these photos were taken by the daughter and given to me later.

I really enjoyed my time with them and was very comfortable knowing they also enjoyed having a little one around. Occasionally I would have to get a babysitter when I visited other wives, but here I knew as active as he was that Brad was welcome, because along with my invite he was always included.

When you're teething I guess anything will do to chew on.

As all parents often do when they have children all grown up, I look back at these photos and remember.

  1. I like the way you held on to hs diapers.

I had twenty over years of life and photos scanned because we were migrating from Sinagpore to New Zealand. A lot of work, but a lot of fun too.

  12. Oh, those are some cute photos. Your son was such a cute baby (and I think he is just a few months older than me)It's so worth to make as many pics as possible. When I have children one day, I'll be probably documenting every single week of their lives, if not every single day... :) Have a wonderful day. Petra

  16. I'm working on the scan thing too. Boxes of old (1890-1900's) family photos...some people I can't ID, so sad. You just have to keep up with it.

  19. I wish I had more photos of when my kids were young! I was not as interested in photography as I am now. What a shame! These are wonderful photos.

  22. You look so carefree. I love how you grabbed that diaper without even looking ~ motherly instinct for sure! Any wonder kids think their Mom's really do have eyes in the backs of their heads. LOL

  26. The nonchalant diaper hook maneuver is the signature move of a super mom. I got a good laugh out of that. I have a 1-yr-old grandson, and I expect to spend a week with him (and his newborn sister) in September while the parents are on vacation. They will wear me out for sure... nevertheless, my wife and I are looking forward to it!
