My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 28

Today I am sharing more photos Gregg and I took while we were in San Francisco at the end of last year. We visited the Coit Tower at the top of Telegraph Hill, a famous landmark in the city. Inside we were delighted to find the most amazing murals
Many of these murals depict the struggles of working class Americans and were completed in 1933-34. They are now protected as a national treasure.

You can find more history of the Tower if you go here.

Thank you Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy, Louise and Sylvia for hosting My World.

Incredible murals, such talent.

Amazing murals. I think it was stimulus money that hired all these artists in the 1930's - I wish the government would do it again.

What a beautiful artwork ! I wished I would have seen that when I was in San Fransico, but we were there only 3 days and there is so much to see and I didn't know about that either.
Now I know, thanks to you ! Blogging opens the world for us !

I've seen Coit Tower, of course, but never been inside. I had no idea these murals were there. Thanks for sharing, I'll try to get to the tower next time we are in San Francisco.

That looks very much like a style of murals I saw while visiting Saint Louis a few months ago. Your pics turned out nice. Mine had poor color and was partially obstructed by scaffolding. I wonder if it was done by the same person (or team).

A very difficult period in American history, but such a wonderful gift by artists from that period.

I've seen the Coit Tower only from a distance. If I ever return to SF I would definitely want to go inside. The murals are magnificent and your photographs show them quite well!
