Watery Wednesday

Align Center
The only watery photos I took this week was of this Blue Jay. He was the first one to use the new dish I bought a few days ago from the garden center. I am using it as a bird bath and this afternoon I filled it for the first time and put it out on the back deck. He looked at it, looked at me, took a couple of sips, looked at me again and flew back up into the trees.

These are the birds who have me well trained. When I hear their urgent chirps I find myself automatically grabbing handfuls of peanuts (in shells) and tossing them out. It's a race in time to see who is the fastest, the squirrels or the Blue Jays. Usually the Blue Jays win out as they swoop down and quickly make off with each peanut. They are very entertaining.

Thank you 2sweetnsaxy for hosting this great meme.

I have a similar dish on my garden deck, also blue, and I watched a blue jay enjoying mine, too. Our jays are Stellar jays, all blue with a black crest.
I have another dish on the patio, and it has been claimed by a crow couple, I believe the same pair that used it last year.

Love that blue dish! The jays are beautiful and a bit of a bully at times. But they do a good job of sounding the alarm when predators show up. Great photos!

Wonderful! Your blue jay seems to know how well he and the dish coordinate :-)

What a great shot. I love the bowl my birds have to put up with a plastic flower pot base and every time the grand kids see it they empty it. Lol.
I am waiting for a concrete one from our daughters garden I have been waiting since they moved in last summer do you recon I might see it this summer? XXX Don

What a beautiful bird and how quickly he found the plate which matches his feathers. They do have you well trained.

Oh my gosh...this is so much so...picture perfect! Wish we had blue jays in our area of Texas.

Come see the King and Queen of Watery Wednesday!! If you find time. You'll probably laugh.

I laughed that you are *well trained* ... me too!!!!! I hear the birds calling and some even walk up to the back door. When they knock, I know I'm in trouble!!!!!! Love this shot of the Blue Jay and *his* new blue dish.

Oh, I love the blue jay on the blue dish! We have a red dish like that on our deck...from last year when we were putting out everything red in order to attract more hummies. To have a sister photo for Ruby Tuesday, I'd have to wait for a cardinal to sip there, but it's the wrens who love it most. It's their private spa.

Thank you for your visit to my blog and your kind comment. I read your profile... congratulations on your citizenship. May you long enjoy it in health, peace, and happiness.

Regarding Torbay, I wonder if you have read the wonderful novel Gentian Hill
(1949), by Elizabeth Goudge. It's one of my favorites, and is a lovely, romantic story centered on St. Michael's chapel on Torbay. It's even about a sailor who sails into Torbay and stays! It seems written for you.

Blessings,
Josie Ray

That blue is such a pretty color. I recently read that the blue is not from pigmentation, but there is a funky scientific thing going on that gives them that blue color.

We don't have true Blue Jays out here, but we do have Stellar Jays. Not as pretty as your Blue, but they are certainly fun to watch. :)
