Watery Wednesday

I am still sharing photos from our visit to Monterey back in October of last year, so I hope you're not getting bored with them yet. Hopefully soon I will get some inspiration and take new watery shots around here but in the meantime I will continue to go into my vacation folder.

We were at the aquarium on their observation deck looking out across the bay and there was a lot of activity going on. First of all we spotted the Cormorants sitting on the rock, and then we saw a man snorkeling not too far away from them. From our angle it seemed as though they were very interested in what he was doing.

If you enlarge this photo you will see that a curious seal has joined in. The red float is attached to the man in the water who is out of sight for the moment. The seal is in the top right of the photo.

That looked like so much fun.

There were also kayakers a little beyond this group but I'll share those in next week's Watery Wednesday post.

Thank you 2sweetnsaxy for hosting this great meme.

monterey bay and its surroundings is pretty scenic, no one in her/his right mind would get bored looking at it, so worry not.

enjoyed your post.

Great post and pictures Denise, espcially the first one. When I first looked at it and before I read your text underneath I really puzzled as to "WHAT ON EARTH IT WAS" swimming towards them". Then I enlarged the shot and all became clear. (My eyesight is not what it was)! I liked the one with the seal in it too. A x

Great pictures of activity on the bay! As I read through your post I started thinking you were no longer at the aquarium. I don't recall the observation deck when I was at the Monterey Aquarium 20+ years ago. I think that is a nice feature of an aquarium, having an observation deck to look out on the sea, when possible.

Love your pics and posts. But that must be a lot of work -- sizing the photos and then posting them. For our benefit, though!

Oh it's a frogman! My first glance at that first picture I thought "What *is* that thing in the water?"

I decided that it was Godzilla rising from the sea to menace Monterey (taking a little break from Tokyo).

I couldn't have been more wrong!

Beautiful shots! I see the seal and the seabirds must be amused, ha..the water looks like a playground! These are great photos from Monterey Denise!

I too was stumped at first by what the "visitor" was. It looked like a dragon head, and I thought maybe you'd captured a sea monster. Fun shots!

The pictures of the cormorants are terrific. They are great subjects.

I wonder if he was using an underwater camera. It's a good thing the cormorants didn't feel threatened. I'll bet they could make things miserable for a person who ventures too close. The seal too, for that matter.
