Watery Wednesday

Three water photos from Huntley Meadows which I mentioned in previous posts.

You can see my reflection as I am peering over the rail, trying to see if anything is swimming near the surface of the water. Can you see the dragonfly?

The water plants were so pretty I took photos of those.

As we walked a little further along we noticed movement in the water and saw a wake being made by a small animal that we guessed was either a beaver or a muskrat. We saw a small head bopping out of the water that could have been either one.

  1. I went for my walk today. We have a nature preserve about 12 miles from our house. I saw several ponds that looked like it had green slime on top of it. Every time I looked away from the ponds I would hear a splash. I never did see what was making the splash. I didn't spend too much time by the water or in the woods. The mosquitoes were pretty bad. Next time I go for a walk at the nature preserve I'll have to remember to spray bug repellent on me! I hope to post some pictures from my walk later today or tomorrow.

By the way Bob and I are coming down your way, not quite as far east as you on the first night. We will spend one night near Winchester, VA. Then we are traveling further east of you, to Williamsburg. We're looking forward to our 4-day stay in Williamsburg.

  24. I notice the beaver or muskrat was swimming away from you. I'll try to remember the look of the wake when I'm alligator territory... which is almost never.
