Watery Wednesday - Still in Washington DC

Just off Constitution Avenue there is a lovely area where people can rest for a spell, around a huge fountain. You not only can sit at the water's edge and dip your feet in the water, but there is also seating surrounding it. Another very nice addition right next door is The National Art's Pavilion Cafe which is open all year long. It has a casual menu of a variety of things but more importantly on a summer's day such as this, you can pop in and get an ice-cold drink.

In the wintertime it is used as an ice-skating rink and over the years we have stopped by to watch the skaters. No matter what the season it is a place where people gather to enjoy and have fun.
It was time for us to take a rest and have that cold drink. Miraculously a cool breeze picked up and the soft spray from the fountain was a refreshing spritzer. It was absolutely devine sitting here in our shady spot where we enjoyed the laughter of children as they splashed around with their parents looking on.

The jets start off quite low and then get higher and higher to meet in the middle of the fountain.

We regretted having to move but it was time to head for home.

A short video.

Your photos brings back a lot of memories of the time my son and I went to washington. He was a senior in high school and I was a teacher, his teacher, in fact. We had a good time but it was very hot and humid so we tried to stay indoors most of the time.

I've never seen this spot Denise.
It's funny how water seems to draw people in. On a hot day I imagine this would indeed be a nice place to sit and enjoy. Your video gave us a chance to be there and enjoy it with you. Thanks for sharing it.

Last time we were downtown the fountains were off--you were lucky! These are lovely photos; I especially like the second one, looks like a watery jump rope.
