My World Tuesday - Wedding Photos

As promised here are a few of the wedding photos taken a week last Saturday. I want to thank Celia who took many of them, and also Kathy and I must not forget Gregg who got his camera out after the ceremony. Amazingly I did not take one photograph, only because I knew there were so many excellent photographers and frankly I did not want to miss one moment of this day stuck behind a camera lens.

I was truly surprised at how calm I felt leading up to, during and after the wedding, but I was so incredibly happy that our boy had found the love of his life and that he and Lisa were starting a life of their own. Both Gregg and I were in a total and complete relaxed state, almost euphoric. At one point during the service Father Tom mentioned my sister's name as one of those dearly departed but who was with us still. At the unexpected mention of her name I felt the start of a serious set of sniffles, but I did not want to open the flood gates. She would have been happy to be remembered in such a way and whoever arranged for this I would love to give a big hug (I have an inkling it may have been Lisa) but my dear sister wouldn't have wanted me to burst that unexpected dam of emotion. I could hear her saying, "Neesy, you silly old thing" and at the thought of that expression on her face I smiled. The fact that my niece was there was a great source of comfort to me, and I hope I to her. Hanna was sitting right behind me with Jochen by her side. Occasionally we would glance at each other quickly and our eyes would speak volumes. My face ached so much with all the smiling and laughing during that whole weekend. We were surrounded by family and friends, some had traveled many, many miles to be there and we all waited in anticipation for the bride to appear.

Lisa and her Dad.
Our happy son Brad with his new bride.
And a beautiful bride she was. Lisa is training to be an opera singer. She has a magnificent voice and is a cantor in her church. This talent extends to several family members and friends who either played the piano or sang during their wedding. Her sister's rendition of Ave Maria was truly exquisite while her husband, Lisa's brother-in-law accompanied her on the piano, and again later when her sister-in-law and one or it may have been two of the bridesmaids also sang. One bridesmaid also read a verse from the Bible as did my father-in-law. All I wanted to do was to applaud them all, they made us all proud. But I sat on my hands and bit my lip as I didn't want to embarrass my boy and you know how mothers are.

Here they are with the grandparents. You may recognize Gregg's Dad Gully and his wife Celia on the right of the picture. We enjoyed chatting to Lisa's grandparents later on at the reception as they sat at our table, along with Lisa's parents, Gully and Celia and Gregg and myself.

Lisa's Mom and Dad.

And us.
Here we are again with Hanna and Jochen.

Lisa and Brad inbetween the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Brad with his Grandfather Gully.

Gregg has joined them here. For those who don't know, Gregg is my husband and Gully is his Dad.
Brad is now with his grandpa Gully and cousin Chris. They are Gully's two oldest grandsons and Chris was Brad's Best Man.

And now with me.
I couldn't help but put this one in here. It looks like I am hanging on to him for dear life. We could write a volume around this photo couldn't we? Maybe I realize that a new chapter has begun and that my little boy is no longer my little boy. Oh heck, who am I trying to kid, he will always be my little boy, 6 foot 4 inches and almost 30 years of age, yep he's still my little boy. Okay Brad, you can roll your eyes, I won't mind, you too Lisa. But I can't tell you enough how proud I am of the two of you.

Bon Voyage, see you when you get back from the honeymoon.
Photos from the wedding rehearsal dinner, the wedding reception and get-togethers with family and friends will follow in later posts.

As Lisa and Brad are honeymooning in Italy I found this song for them. Andrea Bocelli is one of my favorite artists and after hearing this I have now become a fan of Sandy.

Thank you Klaus, Sandy, Ivar, Wren, Fishing Guy and Louise for hosting My World. You can see other ‘My World’ photos or join in and share your own by clicking here.

What a great post. The pictures are wonderful and I smiled through all of them. Weddings are so special. All my best to the newlyweds, that they may have many, many happy years ahead of them. :-)

Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

In a way my blog started out with exactly the same sentiments as yours. Then the wedding of my son came up, and somehow his now mother in law created a huge circus, drama, and whatnots.

My innocent chatting and pictures on my blog, she snooped around and gave my son a hard time with .. so all had to come down.

yes I put up some pics from the wedding trip, but with respect left out their names. Well, I still think that one day they will treasure mum's writing, just like they do with you!

Smiles,
Angelika.

I have not lost any of my siblings yet, but a chill ran down my spine when you mentioned your sister. May the Good Lord fill that hole in your life with His own special comfort.

The wedding sounds like it was the wonderful celebration it is intended to be. May the young couple grow increasingly together, and find their joy more and more in each other as the years go by.

How happy and proud you must feel! Lovely wedding and you look very nice in that blue dress. Hope they have many happy years together! I've been very slow getting around blogs lately, but love dropping in and catching up when I get time.

At least the photo of you appearing to be clinging is not at the car as they are trying to leave. I, on the other hand, have one at the car kissing them goodbye....at my son's wedding and my daughter's wedding.

I haven't been around much, but had to come see the wedding photos.
