Camera Critters

A while ago we came back to our car to find this rather cheeky crow sitting on the hood. As we approached he turned his head and looked at us but didn't move. We unlocked the doors and got inside. He still didn't move and we sat there for a pretty long time as we were curious about this cheeky crow. After another ten minute we decided it was time to go and tapped on the glass. He looked back at us but was obviously not going anywhere. It was only when we started the engine that he deigned to fly off into the trees. It was a very curious encounter.

That makes me smile. Who would have guessed? I'll never look at crows quite the same way. ;)

That's a gorgeous crow, Denise. My mom showed that clip to me a few months ago and we marveled at how smart those bird brains were.

I remember seeing an old wildlife video of wild parrots who all but destroyed the car of passing tourists. They happily went off for their picnic and returned to no windscreen wipers, aerial snapped and scratches galore!

They are an ugly, noisy bird but the most modern and intellegent one. I had seen the clip before but still marvel at their ability to adapt. Here they have learnt how to eat a poisonous introduced toad. They know where the poison comes out of the glands on the side of the head so they avoid that area. They flip them over and pull out their gizzards. It is good for our environment because these Cane Toads are a past and don't have any preditors.
I have made a post about Raclette for you.

How funny! I think he was a car-jacker and you were lucky to get away :-) Love the video! How clever!

A black crow encounter seems a little creepy! :)
Excellent photo!
Loved the video - fascinating. I'll have to say the same thing I said on Indrani's a couple of weeks ago - it takes being called a bird brain to a whole different level.

Denise: Neat capture of a hard bird to get a good photo.

I don't mind crows one little bit! They intrigue me... a little noisy sometimes but still interesting birds.

Crows are rather bold. They think they can do whatever they want to do. Nice photo!

They are so smart but so noisy too. That was a very interesting video and I like the picture also.

Beautiful shot of one of my favorite birds -- or rather a bird that seems to favor me! :D :D :D
