Camera Critters

One of the several resident deer at Big Meadows. I know we are a little early but I couldn't help but think of these words from one of my favorite carols when I saw this beauty coming towards me, O the rising of the sun, and the running of the deer.

Camera Critters is another great meme created by Misty Dawn and hosted by Misty and Tammy. Thank you ladies. You can find other critter photos by clicking here.

Walking up to the visitors' centre we encountered a deer in a great hurry. I don't know what startled her but she came running down towards the road I was about to cross, and across that road was the Meadow.

There was an approaching car, not going too fast because the driver had already seen me and was slowing down.
I found myself waving my hands at the driver, motioning him to slow down even more and I pointed in the direction of the deer.
The driver stopped and I used that crossing guard motion telling the deer it was safe to cross the road. She in actual fact didn't miss a step and ran in front of me only feet away. It was another magical moment on the meadow and the passenger in the car must have thought so too because she had a camera in hand.

Gregg was so impressed with my sudden 'take charge' stance that he thinks I ought to apply for the Crossing Guard job up at the high school. If it was for the deer, would love to but high school kids? Hmmmmm..............decisions, decisions.

All joking aside by now she has crossed the road.....

and is starting to slow down a bit.
A little while later we saw her with her Fawn who had been safely curled up in deep grass waiting for mommy to return but unfortunately I didn't get a photograph of them. Fortunately I got photos of another which I posted earlier here.

2sweetnsaxy, I feel lucky that deer are all over the place here and I often see them but I do worry about them. As far as the fastness of my comment on your blog, I get that too sometimes as when I go back and edit, voila, someone has already visited.

    Thanks for visiting everyone.

  21. As I began to scroll through the photos my daughter who is at my elbow says, "It has an udder." Man that girl has quick eyes, for indeed when enlarged you can clearly see the udder. Leave it to a farm girl, once a dairy farm girl always a dairy farm girl. Great shots and even better save!
