My World

My World comes to us thanks to Klaus, Sandy, Ivar, Wren, Fishing Guy and Louise. You can see other ‘My World’ photos or join in and share your own by clicking on the badge above.

A few weekends ago we drove into Washington DC to look around the American History Museum. Across the street is this magnificent building. There are many similar structures downtown. It is a beautiful city and one I have enjoyed visiting many times over the years. I never get tired of it and after each visit I always find myself looking forward to the next trip into the city.

These large urns are on the other side of the museum. You can see the Washington Monument not too far away.
Here it is again.
These bicycle taxi's were seen everywhere.
We are walking back to our car across the Mall.

If you enlarge this photo you will be able to read that this is the building for the United States Department of Agriculture.

Our car is parked on the left-hand side, a welcome sight as it was 93 degrees farenheit that day.
Now we are in the car and this photo was taken through the front window. I am the passenger just in case you are worried for the safety of the man who is skating towards us.
Another one of those bicycle taxi's heading towards the building called The Castle, which is part of the Smithsonian.
People buying refreshments.

I will have more of our visit to the Museum of American History later on.

What a beautiful city! The building in the second photo, reminds me of Acropolis, Athens.
I liked very much the post for your father in law.

The place has come a long way. I was there with my son (who just visited) about 44 years ago. It looks a lot greener there now than it was then. Nice set of photos for all to see and enjoy. We did not see any pedicabs or anything close to that back then.

Very interesting. We were having a family discussion last night on where to go on vacation this summer and son said he wanted to go to Washington D.C. so your post is very timely.
Also, my father worked for the US Forest Service, part of the Dept of Agriculture and made a bunch of trips to Washington. I'm sure that they have several office buildings in Washington but I realized that I had never seen a photo of the "official building."

and Thanks for your kind comment. We will definitely recruit you to be part of "Logan's SuperPizzaPeople" for next year's Autism Run.

I'd like to take a ride in that smart cart in the last photo - it's so cute! The bike cart looks fun too! You captured some great shots from our nation's capital!

Another great tour of the Mall and buildings on it! Thanks for your comment on my brother. He was an aviation mechanic with VAW-123 when he was on the Forrestal. I don't remember if he was still assigned to the Forrestal when it completed repairs, so he may not have been on the ship with your father-in-law.

A lovely set of pictures from one of my favourite cities! We were there over Christmas and went to the same museum. I like the little green vehicle (buggy?!) in the last picture.
