These photos were taken in Cooperstown, New York a few years ago.

We were surprised to see the largest Praying Mantis we have ever seen crawling on top of someone's roof. Of course it was a very impressive metal sculpture. Unfortunately I know nothing of the talented artist who created it.

We found the man and dog statue down by the lake. It was called The Indian Hunter and was sculpted by a man named John Quincy Adams Ward in 1897.

Nice skies! Love the mantis...
Impressive all-- but the last one is amazing.
I liked the mantis best of the pics. They were all good.

Very nice photos. Hope you've got a great week-end planned.
liked your post this week with the lovely sculptures...especially liked the praying mantis ^..^

The weather vane is cool. I would like a preying mantis that big on MY roof. Maybe it could eat ALL the tomato worms in the summer!
I'd love to own that preyingmantis. ;-)
Whimsical post. Love the photos.
We had small metal sculptures hanging in the sky in one of the busiest streets in Poznań but they are gone somewhere.
Fantastic sky!
I loved this series! Great pictures dear Denise!
The second one is my favourite, I have never seen it before!Great indeed!
God bless you

Beautiful skies! And the praying mantel is priceless!
Novel idea and great shots.
Good photos, thanks for sharing. I have never been there but I hope to make the weekend trip sometime with my son to visit the baseball hall of fame.
ah those are all so unique and have a sweet fun about them.
Lovely skies in all the pictures. I like the details in the praying mantis' arms and the dog's face is quite scary!
Great pictures. Thanks.
What wonderful sculptures set against the sky! You've made me curious about John Quincy Adams Ward. I shall have to look him up! I just want you to know that I appreciate all your visits to my blog and all your kind comments!
don't see this everyday !1Sandy
Nice sculptures against the sky. I love the praying mantis.
Whoa! impressive sculptures and perfect for skywatch. The praying mantis is cool and so nicely placed on the roof. They are all amazing.
Love all three, I had never seen a sled used as a weather vane before...nice one. The praying mantise must be there as deterrent to sheep sized aphids on the roof...where do you grow these lovely things?
Great pictures.
All right Denise, just north of us: If you get a chance, log on to our SkyWatch and let us know if these clouds blew in to Virginia this past Sunday!
What a cool thing to have perched on one's roof. Love the man and dog too!

I love sculptures and these are all great. That weathervane shot is beautiful. I would love to have the huge mantis on my house, but the neighbors probably wouldn't agree.
