Hi Denise, the standing statue reminds me of the sunken soldiers unearthed in China. There was an exhibit last year at the Bowers Museum, and I posed with one them, not the original.
Like all Chinese Proverbs in English, I can never find the equivalent of this one in Chinese. On the other hand, proverbs are a very important part in Chinese language. There are big thick dictionary devoted completely to it, and every proverb has its literature background and historical origin.
I've always liked that proverb. For some reason it reminded me of a scene in an old movie where where they did a woman's hear and build it around a small bird cage. Wish I could remember the movie.
Born English but have lived in America for almost 36 years, now proudly a US Citizen but as the old saying goes and as Gregg occasionally tells me, you can take the girl out of England but you can never take England out of the girl.

Like that proverb.
Denise,
You've absolutely made my day by posting that incredible quote. I'm going to save it to my "quotations" file! :-)
