Camera Critters

Time for another Camera Critters hosted by Misty Dawn. Thanks Misty. You can find other critter photos by clicking on the button above.

To understand the reason for the surprised look on this squirrel's face, you have to read to the end of the post.
~

There were all kinds of dogs in DC this past Sunday. These are just a few that I took photos of.

They were coming....

and they were going.....

and coming.

Some were getting lots of sugar.

All were as cute as buttons.

This little guy was posing for the camera, staring at me very intently.

Okay, so dozy I may be but it has taken me a while for the lightbulb to switch on. I have just figured out why these little dogs go by the name of "Papillon". As many of you know that is the French word for butterfly. Well just look at those pretty ears? I thanked him for being the perfect little "butterfly".
I saw movement above and there was a squirrel high up in the branches. He was yelling loud and clear, "LOOK AT MEEEEEEEE, LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEEEEE.................I'm as cute as a button too don't you see?" "You certainly are" I yelled back. "You're cousin's back at my house. Come by and visit okay?"
He said, "Oh yes, you're reputation is getting around, you're that lady with the black box attached to the end of your nose, I recognize you now. Cousin says you're harmless enough. It will take me about six months to hop on over if I start out now. Get the kettle on around 5.30 a.m. on October 11th. I like nuts, lots and lots of nuts." "Okay Sweetie, you should feel right at home because I truly am nuts about squirrels."

  1. Very cute. I think you're on to something here. If your reputation has spread to DC you must be doing something right. :)

  2. Adorable. I didn't realize that's why they were called Papillon either. In fact, I remember seeing a Papillon dog in Hiroshima and thought what a cute breed they were.

I'm seeing all those cherry blossoms behind the squirrel. Lovely.

  6. Lovely pictures. When we lived in our previous house we had a big garden which supported a wealth of wildlife including "Cyril the squirrel"
I forgave him for digging up my bulbs and burying hazelnuts which resulted in a forest of hazel seedlings every spring, but JW declared out and out war when Cyril snook into the barn and chewed his way out through the new roof.lol
