Watery Wednesday

Thank you 2sweetnsaxy of Eyes Mind Heart for creating and managing this great mid-week meme, Watery Wednesday. Please visit by clicking on the above icon to share your own photos or just to enjoy looking at others from around the world.

These photos were taken in December 2008 when we visited Sea Life Park on Oahu, Hawaii. We watched the dolphins for at least an hour, and I could have stayed a lot longer to observe these magnificent marine animals. They were incredible and being able to see them so close was a privilege and a gift.

A short video

  3. I agree, Dolphins are such bautiful and fun marine animals! I'm not sure if I agree with keeping them in captivity, but these looks like they are well taken care of! Great shots, and it seems like a great experience to have seen them!

  5. George, thank you. I hope one day to see the dolphins again.

Papercages, they certainly are, you are very welcome, glad you enjoyed the post.

Valkyrien, I have the same feelings as you and would much rather see any animal in their natural habitat, but this was pretty close and they did seem very happy and as you say, well taken care of.

Today's Blah, I felt very blessed.

  19. Denise I had a dream and that was to swim with the Dolphins..I did just that several years ago when we vacationed in Cuba! Of course the Dophins were trained as those in your photos but nevertheless..I got into the water and had one "kiss" my cheek
I cannot tell you the emotion that came over me!
Now I have another dream and that is to be in the wild in Africa with my favorite animal that walks this earth..the elephant!

  21. That synchronized jumping thing is just amazing to me. I've seen them do that in the wild too, so I know it's not something that they need to be taught to do - maybe taught to do on command but they already have the skill. Thanks for sharing the video, it was awesome!

  22. Really fun footage. I'd be a little bashful to do that ... somehow they'd swim too fast and shoot me out of the water into a wall (I just know it!)
