Squirrel Time, again!

Every morning when I look outside the birdfeeder is missing. Every morning we find it on the ground below the deck, with the screwable top unscrewed. Clever little blighters aren't they? I'm going to have to find a way to better secure it. Right now it is hanging on a hook.
I found a very funny video on squirrels. It may have been around for a while and you may have seen it before but I thought it was a hoot the first time round and I have watched it a couple of times since.

  1. That is just too funny Denise! Morgan will love the video when she gets home from school...if I ever live where I have squirrels at my feeder, I'll be "on a mission" to make a obstacle course like that!!!
    Ha Ha Ha!!!

  2. This is funny! It may not be the squirrel. I find most of my missing feeders are the result of the raccoons. I use tie-wraps on a lot of things. I close the suet cages with them to keep them from being emptied and have tie-wrapped a lot of feeders to hooks and limbs :-)

  3. Thanks for this, Denise! This is a clip from a 30-minute program. I think there were at least two episodes. They built ever more complicated obstacle courses to see if they could ever stump the squirrels--and they never did. I wish I still had those on tape. I loved watching them!

  4. That clip is fascinating to watch. And I don't envy you your squirrel problem. We hadn't been putting anything in our feeder for a while and just resumed recently. So far, the squirrels haven't come back, but I know it's only a matter of another day or two.

  5. That is a smart squirrel if it unscrews your feeder. I had one last year climb up the pole and hang upside down from the hook and eat the food. He is not here this year.

  8. If squirrels are that smart I may as well give up trying to find a squirrel-proof feeder. The video was great!
