Critter pictures, for a change of pace.

For those of you who have an interest in insects, I took these photos at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in DC. They have a live insect exhibit in there and I spotted the grasshopper and the stick insect below. I took a bunch of other insect photos but these were the best I could get. I will be going back sometime and hopefully will add some decent ones to my collection. There were some fascinating critters in there.

Ah... love insects! Being into flyfishing it's what I try to imitate at the end of my line to tease those trout out there in the waters... I often tie my own flies so imitating these little critters has to be as precise as possible!
Great post!!!

Very nice shots. BTW, I love how you're out "doing" DC all the time. It's such an exciting place to be, and toomany residents don't take advantage of all there is to see - well, to be truthful, including me these days. For the first years that we lived here, I felt like I had gone on vacatin and just stayed...everything I had ever wondered about, I saw; every event that piqued my fancy, I attended.

Good photos Denise - I'm not really into insects but do find some of them interesting. Have seen stick insects several times on my visits to son in Australia. Not looking forward to the extra large spiders though! Ughh!

We have that many bugs here in Oklahoma, I don't need to go to a museum to see them. :-) But great pics nevertheless.

It will soon be time for the stick insects to make an appearance around here. They are truly amazing insects.
