The National Museum of the American Indian, Washington DC

The National Museum of the American Indian is in Washington DC on the Mall. I enjoy going into DC for the museums, and many of the them are located within walking distance of each other. You can find more information and pictures at Wikipedia.

When it was being built we were very interested in its architecture and at first thought it might be fashioned after an Indian Pueblo, but later found out that it was more for the natural rock formations of the southwest, which have been shaped by the elements. Inside there are wonderful exhibits and outside there is a garden full of native plants used for health remedies.

These photos were taken a few years ago not too long after it was opened. I need to go back to update my photos of their exhibits.
